Evenimentul intitulat “Sinergii și oportunități de colaborare în cercetări avansate pentru sisteme râuri-mări”

On 3 October 2019, the event "Synergies and opportunities for collaboration in advanced research for river-sea systems" was organized by the National Research and Development Institute for Biological Sciences Bucharest and the Romanian Ministry of Research and Innovation in the framework offered by the Romanian Presidency to the European Strategy for the Danube Region (SUERD).

The main objective - defined in the context of the regional cooperation framework provided by the EUSDR and the DANUBIUS-RI project, the flagship project of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region - was to exchange best practices and identify new opportunities for collaboration in research excellence in river-sea systems. The topics proposed on the agenda were structured in two main chapters:

1. Excellence in research - the key to ensuring socio-economic progress, which focused on issues related to the need to ensure synergy between national and European research policies and themes, the EUSDR strategy and other regional development strategies in order to reach critical mass, which will contribute to encouraging efforts to ensure the protection and conservation of biodiversity, sustainable energy sources, environmental protection and sustainable development: etc.

2. DANUBIUS-RI - contributions to regional development and European development.
The event was attended by representatives of academia and interested ministries, invited lecturers were Dr. Melania Gabriela Ciot - Secretary of State Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Prof. Thomas Hein - Boku University (Austria); Prof. Richard Preziosi - Metropolitan University Manchester (UK); Dr. Delia Dimitriu - Metropolitan University Manchester (UK); Dr. Christos Arvanitidis-CEO Lifewatch ERIC (Spain); Dr. Davide Vignati-Lorraine University & CNRS (France) ;Prof. Andrew Tyler-University of Stirling (UK), Dr. Ekaterina Batchavarova, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Bulgaria), Dr. Andreka Jonoski IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (The Netherlands), Dr. Ioana Popescu IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (The Netherlands), Prof. Lucian Georgescu, Dunarea de Jos University, Galati (Romania), Dr. Adrian Stanica, GEOECOMAR (Romania) and Dr. Manuela Elisabeta Sidoroff INCDSB (Romania).
