Advanced transport and delivery system for human heme-based nanoparticles for biomedical applications

Description

The project has developed an advanced haematoma-based nanoparticle transport and delivery system for medical, imaging and targeted therapy applications. Optimal parameters, dynamics and kinetics of controlled encapsulation methods in human erythrocytes to eliminate the high toxicity of some nanoparticles, and a modern evaluation of the obtained carriers with new methods and criteria currently applied in blood preservation (flow cytometry, TEM and SEM electron microscopy techniques) were defined. The creation of nanoparticles encapsulated in erythrocytes eliminates their negative aspects, aims to increase the therapeutic index and mitigate toxic effects by limiting the exposure of healthy cells and tissues.
