SIMULATING SIGNALLING CASCADES WITH DISCRETE STOCHASTIC METHODS

Description

The project is conceived as a continuation of project RP-13/2007, through which the project director returned to Romania as a young researcher. The above-mentioned grant focussed on two main directions: issues related to cell computing and cell simulation, on the one hand, and finite automata for DNA processing, as the second direction of work.

In this project we will focus only on cell computability and cell simulation and extend the results obtained so far (published in more than 5 ISI refereed papers). The main idea of the project is to extend the NWA memory bounded stochasticity algorithm.

The team will implement the simulation technique in a major simulation package (such as COPASI), so that dissemination will lead to greater utilisation than the Java path previously followed. We also plan to work on modelling paths related to cancer research, modelling paths recently described.
