Assessing the risk of maladaptation to climate change in temperate and Mediterranean fruit trees

Description

FRUITRESCUE is a European project that aims to support agriculture in the face of climate change by capitalising on the genetic diversity of cultivated and wild fruit trees (apple, apricot, peach, peach, olive and grapevine). The project combines genomics, climate modelling and phenotypic data to assess the adaptation potential of these species.
Over 3 years, experts from various fields will generate and analyse new data and build on existing information. FRUITRESCUE will identify resilient varieties for the future, map valuable genetic resources in European orchards and contribute to the conservation of agrobiodiversity, also involving the public through citizen science initiatives.
