National Research and Development Institute for Biological Sciences Bucharest, located in Bucharest, sector 6, Spl. Independenței nr. 296, having as its object of activity research-development, in accordance with HG 2082/2004 for the approval of the Regulation of Organisation and Functioning of INCDSB, announces the competition for two research assistant (ACS) positions at INCDSB Bucharest.

The competition is organised in accordance with the provisions of Specific competition rules for filling vacancies corresponding to the research, development and innovation professional functions and grades of CDI staff (ACS, CS, CSIII and CSII/CSI)

  • Job title: Research assistant (ACS) in maths, statistics, maths-informatics or economist in economic management
  • Code COLOUR: 212016, 212026, 212024 or 263125
  • Contract duration: fixed-term individual labour contract - 24 months
  • Minimum wage: corresponding to the post - 4400 lei
  • Specific tasks:
    • Developing mathematical models
      • Formulate and analyse mathematical models for biological, ecological or biochemical processes.
      • Using numerical and analytical methods for simulation and validation of models.
    • Development of machine learning algorithms
      • Implementation of ML algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning) for analysing complex biological data (imaging, omics, ecological data, etc.).
      • Optimise classification, regression or clustering models according to project requirements.
    • Processing and analysing scientific data
      • Cleaning, transforming and integrating large biological datasets from experiments, public databases or field measurements.
      • Using applied statistical techniques, machine learning and data visualisation to draw relevant conclusions.
    • Interdisciplinary collaboration
      • Working with researchers in related fields (molecular biology, ecology, biotechnology) to understand scientific requirements and translate them into computational terms.
      • Active participation in team meetings and presentation of results.
    • Programming and process automation
      • Writing efficient, documented and replicable code in Python, R, MATLAB or Julia.
      • Developing automated pipelines for data processing and running computational experiments.
    • Participation in drafting scientific publications and project documentation
      • Contribution to the drafting of scientific articles, research reports, grant applications and conference papers.
    • Continuing professional development
      • Participation in courses, trainings and workshops in the fields of applied mathematics, machine learning and life sciences.
      • Continuous updating with new methods and tools used in interdisciplinary research.
