“Romania of the Future” – a new approach in the fields of research, innovation and entrepreneurship

The Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization in partnership with the POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest organized, on September 6, 2022, the Romania of the Future forum, which included an exhibition presenting the results of research, development and innovation activity, as well as a panel session and discussions in the area of ​​research and entrepreneurship.

The Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciucă, and representatives from the European Commission, the World Bank, and the North-East Regional Development Agency participated in the event hosted by the POLITEHNICA University in Bucharest. The team of the National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences from Bucharest INCDSB was present at this event in the Aula Magna of the Politehnica University of Bucharest.

”Romania of the Future” is not just a premiere event, but a turning point in the Romanian research and innovation paradigm and a declaration of commitment to a transformation based on a solid partnership between the public environment and the private sector, domestically and globally.

The involvement of partners from the European Commission and the World Bank confirms the confidence that Romania is on the right way and we have every chance to become a strong voice at the international level. Also, the presence of the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciucă, is a signal of support at the highest level, the approach being part of the Government’s continuous effort to promote the public-private partnership for innovation and technological transfer.

The idea of ​​bringing research institutes, universities and private companies to the same table is an essential part of my mandate as minister, through which research and innovation become the main engine for the development of Romania in the future. A better future, here, at home“, said Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization.

”Romania of the Future” also aims to expand the role of the regions in the overall system of research, development, innovation.

The Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization will actively support, by coordinating the research agendas of the public and private economic environment, the “Romania of the Future” project launches a courageous vision regarding the role of research, innovation and entrepreneurship in Romanian society.

Mihnea Costoiu, rector of the Politehnica University of Bucharest, said: “More than ever, the field of technology and tech entrepreneurship can have an extraordinary impact on the economy and the future of the country. But before we can reap these benefits, we need to address some of the challenges we face. I am of the opinion that we really need a strengthening of the relationship between the universities, the big research institutes in Romania and the companies interested in innovation”.

“Viewed in the context of the launch of the National Strategy for Research, Innovation and Intelligent Specialization 2022-2027, together with National Plan no. 4, the event we are organizing aims to mark an important moment in the consolidation of collaboration between actors interested in the CDI field, in such a way that the results of research and innovation contribute as much as possible to the development of our society”, mentioned prof.
