The National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences is the Romanian legal entity in the coordination of the National Authority for Scientific Research and Innovation.
The institute was set up by HG no. 1317/11.12.1996 by the reorganization and fusion of the Institute of Biological Development Bucharest, the Institute for Biological Research Cluj-Napoca, the Institute for Biological Research Iasi and “Stejarul” Research Biological Centre, Piatra Neamt.
In 2002 it fused, by absorption, with the ex-National Institute of Research and Development for Biotechnologies, on the basis of HG no. 1272 from November 13, 2002. INCDSB is organized and functions under the conditions stipulated by HG no. 2082/24.11.2004.

Biogasinno – sustainable energy
The aim of Biogasinno Sustainable Energy Cluster is to develop the field of biogas production at regional, national and international level and implicitly to increase the share of green energy in the total produced energy at national level. Thus, the cluster represents a helping tool for the collaboration and innovation in the biogas production domain, for strengthening the competitiveness and the sustainable development of the envisaged economic fields, for regional, smart, sustainable development, favorable for social inclusion in Romania, according to the European Union recommendations.
The mission of the IND-AGRO-POL competitiveness pole is to stimulate innovation and collaboration in construction of technical equipment for agriculture and food industry and related sectors like bio economy, renewable energy, environment and climate changes, eco-technologies, advanced materials, in order to consolidate the competitiveness and the sustainable development of these economic sectors, regional development and smart, sustainable and socially inclusive growth.
